Beer and wine will be more readily available at Boston College football games this season.
The Boston College athletic department announced Friday that it is expanding beer and wine sales this season to include select concessions stands at Alumni Stadium. The move is part of a pilot program during the 2017 season.
“We’re pleased to offer this expanded service to our fans,” athletic director Martin Jarmond said in a statement. “We believe this opportunity will enhance our game-day experience and be a welcomed amenity for our guests.”
Previously, beer and wine only was available for sale in premium seating areas. The Boston Globe reported in early August that the school was considering the move to sell beer and wine beyond its luxury boxes, suites and other such seating areas. The university had to file a request with the city of Boston to gain permission to expand sales.
“A special thank you goes to our campus partners and officials from the City of Boston who worked with us to make this a reality,” Jarmond added. “I appreciate the effort and support by many entities in recognizing the positive impact this can make on the fan experience.”
